Idlewild Happenings: Weekend Events Roundup, May 29-June 1

We're kicking off a great weekend of live music and amazing food with some good old fashioned rock and roll from Nashville, Tenn. and then it's off to one of Atlanta's (the Southeast's, really) best events celebrating our region's phenomenal food and libations. So here's the quick 411 on where to be to savor the weekend, I'll be out and about with friends for all the festivities (inc. blogger dearie Molly Free of Dropping the Needle ( - Come say hello!

“They are, however, a rock n roll band and one that could likely take your state rock & roll champion to the mat in less time than it takes to cue up a record. What the Nashville, Tennessee quartet lack in physical adeptness they make up for in wild abandon and unfettered debauchery; in buzzsaw guitars and pummeling, primal rhythms." | | @TurboFruits

"Remembering that rock music is about moving emotions, moving bodies and having a hell of a good time, Tesla Rossa has been secretly cooking up their own brand of indie rock n roll. Just try to keep still while listening to this four piece. I dare you. Their daring sound is vigorously laced with rousing and thought provoking lyrics that beautifully cut through rambunctious guitars, persuasive bass lines and fiery drums.
Lyrically we could describe it with two words. Positive desperation. It has some very uplifting messages for us personally, whereas musically it’s loud, moody and declarative. The guitars and vocals are right up front and stubborn as a mule." | | @TeslaRossa

"Originally formed as an outlet for Daniel James to exercise his virtues gained from years in Detroit, the seminal force of Leopold and his Fiction is the catalyst for soul-drenched, bare-bones rock ‘n’ roll that shakes with the power of ’73-era Stooges while seducing with the rhythm and blues of Motown. James balanced this raw, na├»ve energy by becoming a founding member of alt-country folk rock act Cowboy and Indian, enjoying a successful run playing festivals including Austin City Limits and recording a full-length album." | | @leopoldfiction

  1. We were a bit early here for corporate event planning and needed something to hold us over so we ordered $10 Buffalo wings. I believe it was a full dozen, perfectly crispy and buffalo-y.
