Idlewild South Happenings: neutral hue Styling Event at West Elm Atlanta, Oct. 29

I don't know about you, but with the change of seasons, something in the air makes me want a living space re-vamp. Not to mention, my style lately has shifted away from strictly vintage into a mix of antique/industrial/modern that has me on the hunt for a few new elements to spice things up! If you're in the same boat, you should visit West Elm at Atlantic Station (details and directions HERE) on the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 29 as Ashley Schoenith and Christina Louks of the beautiful blog neutral hue style two holiday tabletop looks, each to suit their own rustic and modern styles.

I'm a huge fan of Ashley and Christina's lovely blog and consult it constantly for inspiration. The neutral hue ladies have the relaxed-but-elegant look nailed, and you know me - Give me a whitewashed wall, some burlap and touches of gold...I'm sold. Seriously, check out their work HERE and prepare to be inspired!

I had the chance to chat with one half of the neutral hue team, Ashley, about their styling event at West Elm, exciting projects on the horizon with her beautiful brand IceMilk Aprons, seasonal inspiration and more. Enjoy, and I hope to see you at West Elm!

What can we look forward to with the styling event at West Elm?

Christina and I have both a very similar aesthetic (neutral) and very opposing, as she leans on the modern side and I on the rustic. The WE holiday collection items are fabulous, and I love their MARKET concept as well, which is here in the Atlanta store, and we have picked our favorite tabletop items to style two tables (modern vs. rustic) for inspiration on setting your holiday table this year! We both love WE, as it plays so nicely to both of our tastes and their new pieces are so, so fabulous - you won’t want to miss popping in to see what they have. It should be a lot of fun.

Tell us what's new with IceMilk Aprons! What is the story behind the Heirloomed Collection.

We have been busy with the holiday season coming up with new launches of our heirloomed Collection and Holiday Collection over the last month. The heirloomed Collection came about as an extension to what our company is all about - a deeper look into the heirloom concept of creating memories and passing down cherished items through the family. We launched the heirloomed Collection with a full array of tabletop items but stay tuned and you’ll see more under this line.

What are a few of your favorite perennial decorating tips?

I love to keep it simple. I love to keep myself {overly} busy with my work, family and social calendars so I tend to lean on pieces that make it easy to pull together something fabulous at a moments notice. I also try to stay very true to my own personal style - neutral, classic pieces mixed with vintage, unexpected touches, simple and not overdone., and nothing too perfectly done. I collect mix-matched white dishes and serving pieces so they can easily mix and match together (nothing too matchy-matchy). Keeping a classic, solid base lets you add touches when you need to make it special - like changing out pillows seasonally on a linen couch.

What's inspiring you right now? Music, art, blogs, etc.

I draw my inspiration from all over the place. At the moment the Fall weather is inspiring me. I am such a
summer person, but the Fall in Atlanta is just beautiful and a season I didn’t get to enjoy to it’s fullest growing up in Florida. And, I love the Fall fashions which have great masculine touches that I enjoy. Also, my family. My sweet 2-year-old son Wyatt keeps me inspired and on my toes every moment. And, with a new baby on the way later this year I am in full “childhood memories” mode which keeps me thinking and designing.
